Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor on this 2005 Ford F150. It's the same part and similar process on these F150s from 2004 to 2008. The items you'll need for this is a new blower motor from 1AAuto.com and an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
Your blower motor is located right here. It's held in with these three 8 millimeter bolts. Then disconnect the harness by pulling down on the tab and pushing it off. Then use an 8 millimeter wrench or a socket and ratchet to remove those three 8 millimeter bolts. Once those are removed, just pull the blower motor down as far as you can and then pull back the carpeting, and just maneuver it down and out and over the carpeting.
On the left is the new blower motor from 1AAuto.com. On the right is the old one. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Take your new blower motor and feed it up into place. You push it in against the carpet as much as you can. Once you get to a certain point, you'll want to pull the carpet back to give yourself a little bit extra room. Then just kind of push it into the insulation and up at the same time, and it'll go into place. Then turn it once you get it up in place so that the holes line up.
Once you get it lined up, just replace those bolts and tighten them up. If you want to speed up the process of tightening them up, you can use an air ratchet, but you want to make sure that you don't over-tighten them, so just tighten them most of the way, and then tighten them the rest of the way using your socket and ratchet. You just want them hand tight. Reconnect your harness.

Okay, friends. To get started on our blower motor resistor, let's go ahead and open up our glove box, squeezing on the sides that way there these tabs release. Looking behind here, you're going to be able to see your blower motor resistor. You can either try to access this right through up here or, of course, you can try to come underneath the dash which is pretty easy as well. I'm just going to them squeeze on the little tab. I'll draw this off of here and now I'll show you what tab I'm talking about. Right here where my index finger is the tab, you squeeze that and pull it away and it releases. At this point, we have a nice clear view of our resistor. You have a mounting bolt right here on the lower aspect of it closest to us. And then on the upper aspect, right over here farthest away. Remove both of those 8-millimeter headed bolts. There we are we are. Grab that resistor, take it right out of there. There it is, friends.
All right, friends, now it's going to be time to install our brand new blower motor resistor. Looking at the front, you can tell that there's an area that has a slash out on one of the corners. As we install this resistor, we want to go on in just like this so the slash on the top facing towards us. So carefully slide this right in. It should want to line up with the pitons that are there. We'll start in both of the bolts and then we'll snug them up. Okay. That's bottomed out. You don't want to go too much further than when it's bottomed out only because the screw is actually going directly in the plastic. If you go too tight, you could strip it. Bottomed out a teeny bit more. Now, let's go ahead and connect this in. There we are. At this point, go ahead and close this up by squeezing the two pieces together. All right. Now, all you have to do is test your blower motor on all speeds.

All right, so coming in on your passenger's side, right underneath the glove box, you're gonna be able to see your blower motor resistor. It should be fairly easy to get to. We're gonna remove the wiring harness from it and then, of course, of the two mounting bolts. Let's get started.
Now, if you take your finger and you press right on this little center point, you'll be able to squeeze that and then draw this away. I always take a peek at my wiring harness. Make sure there's no funny colors. If you see something, you know you have to repair that. This looks good, so I'll set it aside. Now I can see my mounting bolt here and one right there, remove them both. There's one. It's out. There's our second. And then of course the blower motor resistor.
Now it's gonna be time to install our brand new blower motor resistor. If you were look at it, you can see that it has one corner that's, kind of, angled off. That needs to be on the top and towards the rear. I'm just gonna put it just like this, I'll slide it directly into the box, and then, of course, we'll put in our two mounting bolts. Okay. There it is. Just like that. Let's get this one in a few good threads. You want it to be as straight as possible. You're gonna be screwing into plastic, so it could be very simple to accidentally cross-thread in your bolt or even strip out the plastic box. Okay, so I get that one bottomed out. Do the same thing to the other one. You don't wanna overtighten these. Like I said, they're only screwed into plastic. Okay, that's bottomed out, just a tiny weeny bit more. That's it. Let's get our pigtail reattached. Push it in. Listen for a click. Give it a tug. That feels great. Now we're gonna test our blower motor.
All right, I can hear the blower motor on level one, two, three, oh yeah, and it works on high. This is perfect.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor resistor on this 2005 Ford F150. It's the same part and similar process on these F150s from 2004 to 2010. The items you'll need for this is new blower motor resistor from 1AAuto.com and an 8 millimeter socket and ratchet.
Open up your glove box and just push in on the passenger's side and pull it down. Now, push the tab on the bottom of this harness and then just pull it free. Then remove these two 8 millimeter bolts. We'll fast forward as Mike does that. You can use an air ratchet for this, just to speed up the process. Once you remove the bolts, it pulls right out. Then, you just want to pull off this gasket as well.
On the left is the old blower motor resistor. On the right is the new one from 1AAuto. You can see they're identical and they'll fit exactly the same. Make sure the gasket's in place, and then feed your blower motor resistor back into place. Then, replace those two 8 millimeter bolts by hand. One corner is notched and there's a tab in it, so you can only put it in one way. Tighten up the bolts, careful not to over-tighten them. You don't want to strip out the plastic. Reconnect your harness and then push in the side of your glove box and close it.

Okay, friends. To get started on this blower motor, we're gonna come underneath the passenger side, right behind that glovebox. You're gonna be able to see your blower motor. We're gonna remove the three bolts that hold it in and then I'm gonna do the wiring harness only because it's a little bit hard to get to. So, if you follow this, you can see where the wiring harness goes and it's all the way back here. It's a little bit hard to get off. So, if you remove your mounting bolt here, here and then the one that's over on the passenger side right there, we'll be able to draw this down and then we'll remove the wiring harness at that point. I'm just gonna start by loosening this one. The easiest way to get to your far inward bolt is with a nice ratcheting wrench. That's gonna be the easiest way because trying to fit a socket with a ratchet, obviously, there's very minimal space and if you're just using a regular old wrench, you're gonna have to go on, turn it, take it off, on, turn it, take off. Ratchet wrench is the way to go. Okay, there's that one. I already have all these loose at this point so I'm just gonna go ahead and take them out by hand. That one could use a couple more turns real quick. There we are. Then we'll just grab the blower motor. We should be able to pull it down. You're gonna kinda have to come down and at an angle and just try to help it out. Well, while we're at this point, you can see the area for the electrical right here. If you use a nice flat screwdriver, usually you can come right from the center and you can lift both tabs at the same time and then draw this away. Sometimes you'll notice that one tab's broken or maybe the center part's broken so you'll have a harder time. But basically, just get it off of there. There we are. Take a peek. Make sure you don't see any funny colors. There it is, friends. All right. Let's get started on installing our brand-new blower motor. First, what I always like to do is get the wiring out of the way. Last thing I wanna do is get a snag and potentially damage anything. Let's get our blower motor. We're gonna carefully slide it up. We don't wanna damage the cage by making it oblong or anything like that. So just be as careful as you can and just try to get it up and in there. There we are. Let's start in all three of our screws and then we'll bottom them out and snug them up. Okay, that one's definitely snug. Just doublecheck these. Snug. Awesome. Let's get this reconnected. Slide it in. Listen for a click. Give it a nice wiggle. Make sure it's 100% secure and make sure your cable is not dangling down where it could get stuck on anybody's feet. This looks good. Let's give it a test. All right. I can hear the blower motor on level one. Two. Three. Oh, yeah. And it works on high. This is perfect.
