1. Determining Your Emissions Specification
Open your hood
Locate your catalyst sticker
If the sticker says "This vehicle conforms to California regulations," you have a California emissions vehicle
If the sticker says "This vehicle conforms to US EPA regulations," you have a federal emissions vehicle
If the sticker lists both EPA and California regulations, you have a California emissions vehicle

Determining whether or not your vehicle is a California emissions or a federal emissions vehicle is pretty straightforward. To do this, you'll want to locate your catalyst sticker under the hood of your vehicle. It'll either be actually on the bottom side of the hood, most GM vehicles have it on the air box, and other vehicles may have it along your radiator support at the front of the engine bay.
All you need to do is see, "This vehicle conforms to California regulations." That means that this vehicle is a California emissions car. Just because you're not in California or are in California doesn't necessarily mean your vehicle will be one way or the other.
Now, our F150 has it down here on the radiator's support, right at the front of the engine bay and you can see here, "This vehicle conforms to US EPA regulations." This means that this vehicle is a federal emissions.
Now, here we have two things that are a little different. Our catalyst is located on the vehicle's air box and this vehicle conforms to US EPA regulations and California regulations. If it conforms to both federal and California emissions, it's considered a California emissions vehicle.

Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to replace the upstream oxygen sensor. Now that's the one that's before the catalytic converter. It's between the motor and the catalytic converter. This is a 2007 G6 with the 4 cylinder motor, same as any G6 or Saturn Aura. The only tool you'll need is a 7/8 inch, oxygen sensor socket and a flexible headed ratchet will make the job easier.
Access your upstream oxygen sensor. It's right in behind the engine. This is a 2.4 liter, 4 cylinder. There's the oxygen sensor. There's the electrical connector. Now back in, there's a blue, little safety lanyard that you need to pull out. Then, there's just a tab on top of the connector, pull it up with your thumb and then you should be able to pull the connector right off. Now grab the other end, the end that's connected to the O2 sensor and pull it out of the clip. This is the tool that makes all the difference. It's an O2 socket. See it has a big slot in it that allows the electrical connector to go out to the side and then you put the socket around the oxygen sensor. A flexible headed ratchet like this is going to be your best bet, allows you to get the most leverage. Once you get the ratchet on there, turn the O2 sensor out and actually, this one comes out fairly easily once we get it started.
The new sensor goes in, just opposite of how the old one came out. Put it in place, get it in the hole and you can usually start it in by hand. Then, once you get it fairly tightened up, then make it nice and tight with the socket. Now, obviously, we need to reconnect the oxygen sensor. I'm just going a little fast, here, because doing it with one hand, makes it a little more difficult, but reconnect the connector. Make sure you put that locking clip back into place. Then clip the connector back into the bracket.

1. Identifying your Oxygen Sensors
Upstream oxygen sensors are located in between the engine and the catalytic converter
Downstream oxygen sensors are located in the catalytic converter or farther away from the engine than the catalytic converter
Locate your vehicle's firing order diagram
The bank that contains cylinder one is bank one
The bank that does not contain cylinder one is bank two, even if it does not contain cylinder two

In this video I have a couple of oxygen sensors with me. While there are some aesthetic differences here, the wire lengths are a little different, the actual body and tip of the sensor are a little different, the threads and gasket are the same, and on the other end the connections are actually the same. I can plug these into either position on our vehicle. But if I had to ask you which one's upstream and which one's downstream, you probably can't tell just from looking at them. That's true of most oxygen sensors. The way you determine whether or not an O2 sensor is upstream or downstream is all done visually.
Your oxygen sensor position can be determined relative to your catalytic convertor. As the name suggests, upstream sensors will be located upstream or ahead of, in front of, above, closer to the engine than your catalytic convertors. This means that they see the exhaust gasses first. They then go through the catalytic convertor and to the downstream oxygen sensor, which will either be located in the catalytic convertor like our vehicle here, or after the catalytic convertor to monitor the gasses coming out of the cat and make sure that it's being efficient relative to the readings of the upstream O2 sensor.
The other determination you need to make is bank one versus bank two. Determining which bank is which can be done by looking at a picture of your vehicle's firing order. Whichever bank contains cylinder one is going to be bank one, and the other one, regardless of whether or not cylinder two is in it, is going to be bank two by default. These banks are true of V engines like V8s, V6s, and flat engines like Porsches and Subarus that have individual banks.
On inline four-cylinder engines, as long as they have one exhaust manifold like a Jeep four-liter or a four-cylinder Honda engine, you'll only have one bank with an upstream and downstream O2 sensor. There will be no bank two on the engine.
On our vehicle here, this is the passenger side, which we've already determined from the firing order is bank one. We have our upstream sensor here closest to the engine ahead of the cat. Then we have our downstream or sensor two here inside of the catalytic convertor. This could also be located somewhere after the cat. Here I have my two sensors for the vehicle. While they are aesthetically different, we can now tell this is my upstream sensor because it looks just like the upstream sensor I have up there. This is my downstream sensor. Now that we know which one's which, we can order the right part, correct the problem, and fix you up right.

I can't believe how fast it arrived. Got it installed and it has been working great for about 3 weeks. The only thing that had me worried was the packaging it was just placed in a box too big, nothing to protect it and could have have been damaged but it wasn't thankfully. I would definitely buy again from this company.

The part was significantly less than the NAPA part the repair shop was going to order. I got this part for $249 with no tax or shipping and it arrived in 2 business days, ordered Thursday, arrived Monday! Took it to the shop and they installed it in no time and my daughter was back on the road. I will be ordering the next parts I need from 1A as well.
Great product and a great price.

Fit and finish is as good as I could hope for. Bolted right up and works like it should. Very pleased with this converter.
Functional at a good price

The manifold had weld splatter imbedded in the ceramic honeycomb inside the cataletic converter. Enough metal spatter that it undoubtedly will reduce the air flow efficiency and perhaps the life of the part.
The mounting flange on the exhaust end of the calatetic converter was warped to the point the bolt holes didn't line up with the holes on the mating flange of the exhaust pipe. Because of this it took nearly twice as long to work around the problem as it should have to install it.
In the end, I would say that this manifold/cat assembly is functional at a good price but is not a quality part. Given the time investment required to make it work, it may not even be the best value.
Will buy again

This was also a perfect match for my vehicle
I paid the shop for labor and it was done in 1.5 hour. No problems any more.
My teen-aged daughter's car was in dire need of an exhaust system. I located 1A Auto online and contacted them to inquire about the part they advertised. The representative was very kind, answered all of my questions, and even took the time to double check the VIN number to make certain that I was ordering the correct part. Once ordered, the exhaust system arrived precisely when promised. I would recommend 1A Auto without hesitation.

So I have installed 2 of the manifold converters on my 2008 Aura and I am incredibly displeased with the quality. I worked at a GM dealer for many years and I have replaced ALOT of these so I know GM had issues with the manifolds on the Malibu and Aura. Both converters I have installed on my personal car had devolved a crack within 4 months. I'm also a ASE master certified technician so it is being installed properly. I feel bad for someone that has to pay labor to install this junk on their car only for it to crack. Parts are normally covered under warrantee but labor is often not. Keep that in mind if you go with this company.

Sorry for the delayed response...yes comes with gaskets as pictured....one between the unit and manifold and one after the converter. Also, here's more info: I paid a licensed mechanic to install this part for me, as I was too busy at the time and it would have taken way too much time for me to accomplish at my home garage. He did this as a side job for a really low fair price. With that said...the part was a great replacement....no problems installing and no problems with the unit so far. Dealer and 2 other places wanted approx $1000 to do this (parts & labor). I would Definitely Buy Again!! I hope this helps!!

I have had this catalyc converter on my car for a year with absolutely no issue. It works great. I also replaced the exhaust side O2 sensor. This could be as DIY project, but I had a garage install it. It took about an hour.

This converter was as good as, if not better than, factory. It was built out of cast iron and all the welds were perfect. I replaced an aftermarket assembly with this assembly and it weighed about 3 times what the other one did. It was well built and fit perfectly. Flawless, I changed it in less than an hour and have had no issues.

The part I recieved was not what I consider to be OEM quality. There was weld spatter imbedded in the honeycomb of the cataletic converter. The mounting flange on that same end was warped to the point the bolt holes didn't line up with the holes in the mating flange.
