Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the hood support struts on this 2009 Pontiac Torrent. It's pretty much the same for all Torrents and Equinox of this generation, which is 2004 to 2009. You're just going to need small flat blade screwdriver.
When you open up your hood, pull the hood release, and then lift the hood up, and unlatch the secondary latch. Your hood are struts on the driver's side. Use a helper or a piece of wood to help support the hood.
Then you're going to use a small flat blade screwdriver, and there's a little slot that you pry out the clip on each end. While you pry out you pull it off, as you can see here. Pry out the clip, pull the strut off, and you see the hood will come down. You'll, again, want to have that helper or piece of wood to support it. Do the same thing on the bottom.
Then with your new strut from 1A Auto, make sure the clips are in place. You should see them right in the slot there. Put the lower part on, push on firmly, and you may have to align the hood a little bit and put the top in place, and make sure it's locked in place, and you should be all set.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.
