Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out and next time you need parts for your vehicle think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video we show you how to replace a side rear-view mirror on this 2005 Nissan Maxima, same as any 04 to 08. We replaced the driver's side. The passenger's side is a very similar procedure. The only tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver and a 10mm socket with ratchet and extension.
Take a small screwdriver, there's a little kind of trap door right behind your handle here, pry that right out. Carefully go up on the back of your power switch plate here, pry up, and then this comes up and out. You'll disconnect the harness here by pressing on a button. The button's in the back. Press and pull, and then this one, same thing. Press and pull. Take your screwdriver again and kind of pry in behind this panel here. This trim, just carefully and firmly pull it out. Trim pulls out. Now there are 3-10mm bolts to remove, one back in there, one right back in there, and one right behind your door panel. Just speed up here as we remove those 3-10mm bolts. Again, one from behind the handle and then two from behind the pole.
Once you've removed those you can just kind of grab the side of the panel here, pull firmly, and then go up. Pull out these cables, pull firmly away from the door, and then the cable comes up. Same ones here, firmly away from the door, and you have to probably hold your lock button. Pull the cable up and out. Then down further there's just 2 connections, same thing as the other ones, the little button. Okay, the 10mm bolt here, remove that. This panel pulls off and you can just kind of lay it down like that. Here's the connection for your mirror. Press the little button here. Use a little screwdriver, the tab right here, push it in, and disconnect. There are 3-10mm nuts to remove right here. Just speed it up as I remove those 3-10mm nuts.
Pull the mirror off, and there it is off. You can see that my original mirror for this car is fine. Obviously you're probably watching this because you have a broken one. The mirrors from 1A Auto are exactly the same as the original. They do come in black, and obviously you could mount it and you'll have a perfectly functional replacement it would just be black instead of body colored. If you did want to paint it body color you can be as crude as going to the hardware store and finding some paint that's a similar color and painting it that way. If you wanted a closer match you'll want to visit an automotive parts store that has a paint department. They can match the color of the vehicle, put it into an air-charged can and then you could spray it yourself to match. Re-installation obviously is the reversal of the procedure. Put the harness through, bring the studs through, start on the nuts. Speed it up here again. I start on all 3 nuts by hand then tighten them with the socket and ratchet. When you tighten them you want to tighten them nice and firm but don't over tighten them.
Clip that on there. This back up in there. Then our 10mm bolt. Okay, re-install the door panel. Get it kind of close and plug in our harness connections down here. Make sure they're clipped in. Now up here the one with kind of the L-shaped goes on top, that's your lock. It just goes into a little hole. Down in the hole and spin it around. This one goes in the hole and swings around pretty easily. Make sure these harnesses go up into that well there. Press the panel against the window, slide it down into place, and make sure we have our harnesses, line up the pins, right around. I'll speed up here as we re-install those 2-10mm bolts behind the door pull. Connect our switch panel. The front down in first and then lock it back in place. Make sure all goes down. Put this panel in place. Put the bolt back in here and put our little trim door on there.

Instructional Video Sold Me
H
July 8, 2017
When I broke the mirror off my car I thought it was going to be a fortune to get it fixed. Asked a friend who does auto body and he said do it yourself. Found the 1aauto.com instructional video with my car. Ordered the mirror, it was here in two days and I installed it in less than an hour using the video to guide me. Overall great experience.
Looks good and performs as expected.

Fit up nicely. Looked like factory part. My only complaint it that it didn't include an outside gasket and now I get wind noise. I didn't have an outside gasket on the one I took off, but it too appeared to be a replacement. Therefore, it's possible the base door is slightly bent.

I believe you could specify black or white. I got a black one because my car is black and it matches perfectly.

It was black when I received it. I then went to an automotive paint store and bought some paint that was my cars factory color. I then masked off the glass and the part of the mirror where it mounts to the door, then I sprayed the rest of the mirror with the matching paint. Then I left it out in the hot sun for 3-4 hours, then sprayed it with clear coat, let that dry then I installed it on my car. Looked PERFECT.
