How to Replace Headlights 1997-99 Buick LeSabre

1. Removing the Headlight

Remove the two 10mm bolts securing the headlight. Pull the headlight out and push to the outside to free it.

2. Changing the Bulb

To change the headlight bulb twist the socket and pull it free. Lift up the tabs to free the bulb. Pop a new bulb into place and twist the socket back into place. To change the other bulbs twist the socket and pull the bulb free. Push the new bulb into place and twist the sockets back into the headlight assembly.

3. Replacing the Headlight

Remove the harness from all of the sockets on the old headlight assembly. Connect all the harnesses to the sockets on the new headlight assembly. Line up the three tabs on the side of the headlight and push the assembly back into place. Replace the two 10mm bolts.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a headlight assembly on a '97 Buick LeSabre. The operation can be the same for model years '97 through '99. You'll need a 10-mm socket and socket wrench and a new headlight assembly from 1A Auto. This video is going to help you out whether or not you're just looking to change a bulb, or maybe your car has got some miles on it. The lights have gotten cloudy and faded, and you want to take it from this to looking like this. A new set of headlights from 1A Auto can really help take a few "miles" off the front end of your car. So you can go from before to after.

Using my 10mm socket and wrench to remove the 2 10mm bolts. I'm going to pull the headlight out just a little bit and then push to the outside and pull it out. To service the bulbs, I'm going to remove the harness here just to get it out of the way. These are twist style bulbs, so I'm just going to give them a little bit of a twist and pull them out. To remove this bulb from the socket, I'm going to lift up on these tabs and pull it out. Re-installation is the same way. Just pop it right in. Align your tabs with the inside of the headlight assembly and twist it back into place.

So the outboard bulb is the same. In order to service this parking light or the blinker, you're going to do the same thing. Twist, and then this bulb will actually just pull straight out. We're going to need to swap over the harness here. In order to do that, I'm going to take out the bulbs. At the old headlight here, you can see all the crazing and pitting on the glass. Then we've already got our new one from 1A Auto that's clear and ready to go. Reattach the harness. Putting the headlight back in. I'm going to match up these three tabs over with the corner metal. Make sure my gasket is put in. Reinstall the 2 10-mm bolts. Once you've got it all bolted back in, go ahead and turn them on. Make sure they're all working and operating correctly.

Easy to install, decent quality assembly. The bulbs included were junk. One was broken at the tip and only worked for 5 minutes. Put in good quality Phillips Crystal visions, way better.

Took an extra week for shipping. Not your fault. Ups. I thought it said the lights were adjusted already. Got one pointing to the sky and one far down. Not a big deal either. On a positive note, they look great compared to what i had and super easy to install. Thanks

These headlights are great, just plug in and put the screws back in, the only thing is both adjustment screws say they adjust side to side, according to the web the low beam screw is the horizontal adjustment, high beam is vertical, but will do the wall adjustment to verify, BTW does not say it but the bulbs included are test bulbs, I put in Sylvania ultra low beam bulbs and love how I actually see again, going to do same with high beam in the future. Don't hesitate to get these, the 1Aauto team is the best in all ways.

So much better than the 20 year old ones. Curious why the drivers side one came with the wiring harness and the passengers side did not. Shouldnt need it for either side though.

Problem with a headlight.

I purchased a pair of headlights for my 1998 Buick LeSabre approximately three weeks ago. One of the headlights, the passenger side, already has a considerable amount of moisture inside of it. I just noticed it yesterday and have not had a chance to discuss it with 1A Auto yet. I am sure they will correct the issue. My dealings with 1A Auto in the past has always been superb. Thanks, Ed

Headlight replacement for a 97 Buick LeSabre

If I wasn't so old and broken up, this would have been a 10 minute job, as it was, it took about 40 minutes start to finish. The results are tremendous. The heck with that rubbing and polishing the old lenses. For a reasonable price and little effort, I can see clearly again down the road. During harvest season, with the deer on the run, I need every advantage I can get. Best purchase I've made in a long while. I'm glad I found 1A Auto. I've another car that could use some TLC.

The headlights look very good, but the rubber molding around the headlights is substandard. It is twisted in places and does kit keep its form after installation. Overall, a disappointment for the price paid.

These replacement lenses included everything including the bulbs. Fairly easy to install although it takes a little bit of "jiggling" to make them settle in exactly the right spot to be reconnected with the bolts. I made the mistake of thinking that the holes on the end (on the inside) were for the turn signals. They were sealed off and I removed the seals only to discover that they were meant to stay sealed. My bad. The finished product is just like in the video. Crystal clear and much more effective lights.

These will include a spot for the corner light but new light bulbs are not included with this assembly. Occasionally, manufacturers leave test bulbs in the lights. If you receive test bulbs, you'll want to replace them with your original bulbs or with new bulbs.
