nothing wrong with the parts but I had to deal with the rust in the tail gate ets. not the prettiest repair but it works and is safe

No. All 4 pieces of this kit are bolt on. But, the original pieces, while the truck side is bolted on, the gate side IS welded on and is difficult to remove.

Nope. Bolt on replacement. As mentioned, the original equipment on the tailgate was a bear to remove.
