In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the serpentine belt on this 2006 Chevy Malibu the with 3.5 liter, same as any of this era Malibu with a 3.5 liter. Tools you'll need are: a flat bade screwdriver, 10 and 15 millimeter sockets with ratchet, T25 torx driver, a 3/8 drive ratchet handle, and possibly a piece of pipe for some extra leverage.
You want to remove your intake tube. Use a flat blade screwdriver to loosen this clamp here. Pull out this tube, carefully and with 10mm socket with a ratchet or wrench, remove this bolt here. Then, over here use a T25 torx driver and remove the two screws that hold the top of your air box down. Ease it out of place. Pull your air box and just kind of bring it up. Underneath, you'll see right here, is a little tab, a safety tab, pull that out and press this tab here, and disconnect that. Take your intake tube off. Now we're going to remove two 10mm bolts. One here and one back here. Hit the fast forward button, here, as I just remove those two bolts and those are 10mm bolts. Doing those two bolts now allows you to pull your air box up and out.
Now, we want a 3/8 inch drive, the long ratchet. We're going to take the ratchet and here's our tensioner, and down at the bottom of the tensioner is a 3/8 inch square hole. So, I've got my ratchet down in there and I've got a piece of pipe; it gives me extra leverage. Move that tensioner, kind of, counter clockwise, takes the tension off the belt. Slip the belt right off of my idler pulley there, let that come back, nice and easy. We're going to remove these two 15mm bolts. And again, we'll just, kind of, hit fast forward a little bit as we're removing those two bolts. We'll move that bracket out of the way. Now, before you take that belt off, here's the diagram right there, just make sure you're familiar with what the diagram tells you as far as how it's routed so you that you can be sure to put it on correctly next time. Then you pull the belt off of the alternator up here and then reach way down and ease it off of the crank and the belt is out.
Here, we have our new belt. What I'm going to do is take a loop and put it way down underneath the crank and way down underneath the A/C pulley. This loop comes up from the crank and goes onto the idler pulley. Then we can run this across to our tensioner. Then up to our alternator, it goes right here to this idler pulley here, down around the water pump. Just make sure it's on the A/C compressor. Now we're basically all routed, with the exception of this idler pulley here. We just want to make sure it's down, correctly in the grooves of all these pulleys. It looks like it's off one groove here on the A/C pulley. It looks good. To reinstall, put my wrench down and make sure it's secure, pull it up as far as I can, pull my belt and put it right around that idler and slowly let go of my wrench. It should be all installed and looking good. We're going to speed up. Make sure you put that damper back on with the two 15mm bolts. Put those in and tighten them up, nice and firm, probably about 35 to 40 foot pounds.
Then you're going to want to put your air box back in place. There's two round rubber nubs that go in the two holes in the front here. Tilt it down, get those to take place and set it in, making sure your A/C line is out of the way a little bit. Make sure it pushes forward and down. The long bolt goes into the back. We'll speed it up here as we tighten up those bolts and get that air box in place. Bring our air duct back over. Plug in the sensor and remember this little safety plug. Turn it over and put that in place. Put our duct down. Make sure it's on the engine correctly all the way. To hook up on your air filter side here, make sure it's tilted way down and then there's three, kind of, teeth that go in. Make sure it goes on correctly. We'll speed it up here as we put those two T25 Torx screws in place and then the bolt for the air duct near the radiator. Actually pull this rubber grommet off the hose, put it into the intake first and push the hose down into it. Make sure we tighten up our intake clamp here.

In this video I'm going to show you how to remove and to reinstall your serpentine belt on this 2002 Toyota Tundra with a 4.7 liter V8, same as most Toyota and Lexus V8s in these vehicles. The tools you'll need are 10 mm and 14 mm wrenches and a Phillips screw driver.
Using a 10 mm wrench, disconnect your negative batter cable. Okay, here's out belt routing diagram, always very useful. If you don't have one of these before you take the care part, make sure you take good pictures or draw yourself a diagram beforehand. Okay, use a Phillip screw driver to loosen the clamp from the intake tube to the air filter box, as well as there is an electrical connection on top of the air filter box that you need to disconnect and then use your screw driver to loosen the clamp for the throttle body side and then pull that tube up and out of the way.
Okay. Little disclaimer here, I used footage from a different project to make up this video. On this vehicle, you can see that the radiator and fan trout are moved, it likes there's a whole ton of room. If you're looking at this view on your vehicle, this is basically kind of from the passenger side of the engine at the front looking down. You can see that silver tube, there'll be a hose coming off of that and then the whole area view will be a little more crowded by your radiator and fan trout. Like I said I used some different footage to make this up, but you should be able to see the basic steps to get your belt off and back on. Okay. Now the 14 mm socket in a ratchet handle or bar. You want to turn your tensioner counter clockwise. Okay, and just a quick note, you can use a 14 mm wrench. In this shop I'm coming at that bolt from the right side with a ratchet and socket. If you come from the left side with a 14 mm wrench, you should have plenty of room and you should have also plenty of leverage. Move the tension to the belt, pull the belt off, the tensioner slowly come back. Take the belt off a couple of things. Okay.
Okay. Now we're just going to route the belt like the diagram tells us which is basically put a loop down or on the crank shift, up and around the water pump, around the AC compressor, across over the idler pulley. Actually, you leave it off the idler pulley at first, over around the power steering pump alternator and up towards the tensioner. Okay. Now sure how well you can see. Belt routed on everything except basically the tensioner and the islet pulley, so I'm going to take the tensioner, put it down, get the belt correcting on the tensioner and then pull the tension away down and pull the belt up onto the islet pulley. Okay, let the tension off. Check, make sure, looks like everything's routed correctly.
Okay. We're kind of speed through putting the air duct back on, make sure it's on the throttle body correctly and make sure it's on the air box correctly, tighten the clamps, check the hose that goes to the valve cover and behind. Make sure that your electrical connection to the air box is all set. And last but not least, reconnect your battery.

In this video we'll show you how to remove and reinstall the serpentine belt on this '98 Explorer with a 4.0 liter EFI motor, the same as many Explorers with this motor. The tools you'll need are an 8 millimeter wrench, a flat-blade screwdriver and a 3/8ths drive ratchet handle. Disconnect the negative battery cable with an 8 mm or 5/16ths wrench. You're going to want to pull your intake hose back which is fairly easy. You want to loosen up this clamp here. Then you want to unclamp the air filter box. Then you're going to pull that off of your throttle body and lift up. Then you can just kind of lift this up and throw it away. Now to remove the belt, right here is your belt tensioner. You want to take a 3/8 drive ratchet handle and put it in this square hole right in the tensioner. I'll put my wrench down in there and push down. I can see the belt loosen up.
Then you slide it right off of the eyelet pulley. Bring your wrench back up. Then you can just take the belt off all of the components. Reach down and flip it off of the crank shaft. It comes up now. What you want to check on the belt is you want to check the back side. You always see quite a bit of cracking on the groove side. What you want to check is the outside. You especially want to check where the belt is seamed which hopefully like on this belt you can't find. Wherever the belt is seamed is usually where it wears out first. Now I'll put the belt back on. Very important, here's your belt diagram. It shows how the belt is routed. What we want to do is make a little loop and work it around the crank shaft here first. Then we'll work around everything else. Make that loop. You kind of want to make it tight. Pass the belt under the shaft of the fan a little bit if you can just get it into your other hand. You want to get it up under the crank shaft or around the whole crank shaft maybe on top. The belt goes up and over the water pump and around the power steering pump and AC compressor, over the alternator and into the tensioner. The idea is you're going to press on it here. Make sure everything's lined up good and well. Then push your tensioner down and in with the wrench. Then slide the belt underneath the idler. You're all set. Push the air hose back over. Push it right there. Push it back in here. There are three tabs over here. Just make sure they go into the right slots. Clip it back on. Make sure that's pushed on there well. Tighten your clamp back up. Make sure all these connections are still good. You're all set.
